My stay at The Strathcarron Hotel was a mix of pleasant moments and notable downsides. The new owners, Richard and Rebecca, were incredibly friendly and attentive, and my room had a nice view of the farm. However, the hotel itself felt more like a hostel and was in need of a serious cleaning and updating. Also, the lack of food service on-site was disappointing, especially considering the location's potential.

While the warm welcome from the owners and the quality of the evening meals were highlights, the room left much to be desired, especially for the price. Overall, I appreciated the hospitality, but some aspects definitely fell short of expectations.

The room I stayed in was quite dated and had some significant issues. The broken window let in a ton of noise, and the mattress was far too soft, leaving me with a sore back. There were also cleanliness concerns, like dirty water coming from the sink.
